Hail King! Hello Angelo!

King Galero, a very friendly, smiling and playful 1-1/2 year old baby has Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma and was confined at the National Chldren's Hospital when I visited him last Thursday. He was due to have his second bout of chemotherapy that afternoon. But he was so playful and ma-bungisngis (giggly and tickly!) as we watched Game Ka Na Ba that morning and he played with the cardboard box I gave him. (Actually, I gave him a very cute and colorful "shape sorter ball", but he preferred playing with the box it came in!!) Five-year-old Angelo was another lively and spirited one - last month that is. He has leukemia, and has such a fighting spirit.. in fact, he is the most popular kid on the block, having been in and out of that hospital for more than a year now! Last month we played that popular game where both players take turns trying to slap each other's open palms; he was rolling over with laughter and trying to beat me.. and so I pretended to "lose" by letting my palms stay an extra second longer. I watched him that morning as the nurse collected his urine - which did not look like urine at all -- it was blood. I was told he was not responding well to the transfusions and had began to have some sort of internal bleeding. Last Thursday when I dropped by his bed hoping to continue our game, he was listless and did not recognize me anymore. His eyes were sunken and his gums bleeding. I do not have a picture of him that I can post. I should have taken one last month when he was still well, just like I did King today. I do not know if I will still see my friend Angelo on my next visit.

Visit the Kythe site to know more about how you can help kids with terminal or chronic illnesses like King and Angelo. Or, like what some of us do, take the time to visit them and cheer them up and play with them once a week (just an hour or two is all it takes!) so they continue to feel loved and cared for. You can pretend to be a clown, a princess, a witch, a rabbit or just their big sister or brother or auntie who makes faces and tells stories ... whatever you think will make them happy and feel like ordinary kids again..

Enough!

Enough with the google ads which only serve to clutter up my page. They're gone. Poof!
Since July 12, people have visited 1,068 times, and clicked on the ads 52 times -- which translated to earnings of only $5.22 as of today. So, since google will pay ONLY when I reach a minimum of $100.00, it will probably take me about two years before I get that first paycheck.

So I just decided to dump this google business and delete everything. Voila! Nice clean blog again.

Classmate Carmeng turns... 18?

Our dearest classmate Carmeng a.k.a. Carmi Martin celebrated her birthday via a very special evening at her home with none other than "Ratwak Class 2007" - but minus the principal... Ok, roll call!!! -- Ginny, Jeannie, Vicky, Mari, Ricky, Nilo, latest ratwak recruit Richard, and moi. It was such a special evening -- not only did we have overflowing champagne, wine, paella, callos, baked mussels, salpicado and pica pica pica pica pica and more pica ... we also had our fill of eightees music!!! FINALLY, non stop eightees music which we danced and clapped and made pitik-
pitik to (in true eightees style) because our other dear classmate Nilo graciously stayed in the background and refrained from grabbing the mic to sing his signature song(s). Thank you Nilo! As a matter of fact, I think Carmi purposely hid the mic that night.

The highlight of the evening was.... Ta ra!!!... the special screening of classmate Carmeng's all-time hit movie from the eightees "Working Girls!!!" -- which we fast forwarded and paused only when it was her portion -- all the kissing and bed scenes!! hahaha... here are some samples of these immortal (o immoral? hahaha) scenes... can't post the rest as blogspot might close down this site!

OMG, who is this?! ! Such a coincidence that back then, more than twenty years ago, the ratwak gang already had its roots -- This man is one of the founding members of the ratwaks (wasn't he the one who thought of the rat rat and the wak wak sound effects?), although we rarely see him. He goes by the name "Mario" and is a good friend of Mr. Q's. Mario was actually an EXTRA in classmate Carmeng's hit movie!! Here he is about to belt out his ONE and only line...

Bonding in Baguo... Dad's 80th Birthday

My father ARIS FRANCISCO - "dad" to me and my brothers and sils, "lolzzz" to niks, luis and 5 other grandkids, "ayip" to my mom - celebrated his EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY last July 26, and all 17 of us had a blast in Baguio!!! We stayed at the huge 7-bedroom house of AG&P on South Drive and spent the weekend bonding with one another and eating and eating and eating.... These are three of my fave pics...

And, since over a hundred pics have been jointly taken by Nikki, Isa, Pancho and Jomie to immortalize that oh so wonderful, memorable, I-wanna-go-back-there, warm-fuzzy-feeling kind of weekend, let me just post the journal links here.... Click and enjoy!
